Urgent Care

Same-Day Care for Unexpected Illnesses and Injuries

At NYC Veterinary Group, we understand that pets do not always get sick or injured on schedule. During regular business hours, our team can often accommodate urgent care visits for non-life-threatening medical concerns based on availability.

What Is Considered Urgent Care?

Urgent veterinary care is appropriate for conditions that require prompt medical attention but are not immediately life-threatening. Common urgent care concerns may include vomiting, diarrhea, ear infections, limping, coughing, minor wounds, skin issues, allergic reactions, eye irritation, urinary concerns, or sudden changes in appetite or behavior.

When Emergency or Specialty Care Is Needed

Some conditions require immediate emergency intervention, hospitalization, advanced specialty care, or 24-hour monitoring that goes beyond what a general practice hospital can safely provide. In these cases, we may recommend direct referral to a 24-hour emergency or specialty hospital.

Emergency and specialty hospitals are equipped to manage advanced and critical cases involving cardiology, neurology, oncology, respiratory distress, kidney and hemodialysis treatment, orthopedic and neurosurgery, advanced imaging such as CT and MRI, radiation therapy, emergency and critical care, exotic pet medicine, and other highly specialized services.

Helping You Make the Right Decision

If you are ever unsure whether your pet needs urgent care or emergency treatment, our team is here to help. We will work with you to determine the safest and most appropriate next steps so your pet receives timely, compassionate care when they need it most.
